You will surely find one which is apt for your home. In addition to the easy availability and the great variety, the wallpaper borders also have the feature of being light on your pocket, and it does not cost much to hang them, and if you get bored of them, you can always remove them.

How to Hang Wallpaper Borders

Hanging wallpapers is not a difficult task, but it requires a lot of patience (especially if you are targeting all your walls). Before I start with the steps, here is the list of all the things that you will need, apart from the wallpaper border:
  • Pencil
  • Glue
  • Utility knife
  • Ladder

The Preparation

Decide where you want the border, and mark these positions with a pencil, proceed further only if you are sure about the positioning of the border, else you will simply regret hanging the border! Now, measure your walls accurately, and then add 2 inches to every measurement. This measurement will tell you how much border you will require.
Always get a few feet more than what you actually require. Inspect the walls, smoothen even the minor projections, and fill in the holes (if any). After your done, apply a coat of primer where you intend to hang the wallpaper borders.

Cut the Border

Once you get the border, you will have to cut it in appropriate lengths corresponding to the measurements that you had taken previously. Be careful while cutting the wallpaper border for two reasons:
  • You do not want to cut your hand.
  • You want to cut the right length of the border.
When you cut, see that you do not take more than one attempt to cut the wallpaper border. Inconsistency at the edge of the border can lead to a major problem while overlapping.

Book the Border

This is a very important part in the entire process of hanging the wallpaper border. Go to the wall, where you wish to begin, set the ladder. Now, apply paste to the border, and fold it in such a way that the pasted surface is not in contact with the face of the border. Fold 2 feet at a time.
See that you do not crinkle the border when you "book" it. Once you have "booked" the border, you should wait for 5 minutes before hanging the wallpaper border. In these 5 minutes, the wallpaper border relaxes, which makes it easy for you to hang it.

Hang the Border

Now, it is time to hang the border. As, you have already set the ladder, climb, and start hanging the wallpaper paper. Leave the first inch of the border, and then hang 2 feet (one fold) at a time. Now, adjust the ladder, and target the next 2 feet. Do not be in a hurry to finish things off, be patient!
When you finish a wall, you will be left with an inch of the border. Now, take the wallpaper border for the adjacent wall, and overlap it with the inch of the previous border (see that there is continuity in the pattern). Now, similarly hang all the borders. Be careful at the corners.
After you are done, just wipe out any traces of glue that you can observe on the wall. Now, sit back and observe your wall. You should be pretty proud of yourself. As I said, it is not too difficult to hang wallpapers, but it is not so easy too. You did a good job. One thing that you should remember is, use good quality glue, so that your wallpaper border stays on your wall!
