Installation

Before you begin with the installation of the wall murals for home decor ensure that the panels that you have received are complete and not damaged. To install one on your own, you will need a paint brush, some wallpaper paste, a smoothing brush, straight edge razor blades, chalk lines, and a few pieces of clean cloth and sponge.

Step 1

Before you begin hanging the murals, ensure that the wall is flat and clean. Any holes or dents present should be fixed with a mixture of spackling compound and sand. It is recommended that the wall be painted with 2 coats of flat latex paint.
If you are not repainting it, then rinse it with cool clean water with the help of a sponge after washing it thoroughly with warm soapy water to remove all dust and dirt. Let it dry completely before you begin hanging the murals.

Step 2

Mark the exact place on the wall where the first panel will be hung using a chalk line. The first panel that should be hung is the left panel. Apply a thin and even coat of the wallpaper paste along the entire backside of the panel. Let the paste dry for a few minutes. Carefully, position the left edge of the panel along the chalk line.
Once the panel is in place, with the help of a damp sponge, gently push any air pockets that may be trapped under the panel. Use gentle sweeping strokes, as it will not damage the mural. Lastly, press down on the outer edges to confirm that the panel has firmly stuck on the wall.

Step 3

The next panel will be the one that is directly adjacent to the first one. Ensure that you overlap the panels correctly so that there is no continuity break in the picture. Repeat this process until all the panels are in place.
At the end, wipe the mural firmly with a damp cloth especially along all the edges of the panel. This will help ensure that all excess paste drips out.

Step 4

It takes 2 full days for the mural to dry out completely. Once it has dried up completely, check along the seams and ensure that they are completely glued down. You may have to add some paste again in case some edges have not glued in completely.
