Placement of furniture in a living room can be tricky because of the nature or layout of the room or the type of furniture you possess, there isn't a perfect solution. Some living rooms have various focal points like a window or a fireplace, but if your space has a TV as the main focus worry not. Here are some suggestions.

There are a considerable number of ways in which you can plan the living room layout with a TV. The chief layout of the living room depends on the primary construction of the living room.

Depending upon the size of this living room, its constitution and features such as balcony, doors, windows and fireplace, you can determine the way in which your living room's all features can be laid out. The possibilities provide you some ideas of living room layouts with TV.

Living Room with a French Door or Large Window

Here, the room itself remains always well-lit, warm and well ventilated. An arrangement with the help of which you can decide the layout is by affixing the TV on the wall which is adjacent to the French door or larger window.

The seating arrangement can come with some seating elements facing the French door or window, thereby giving it a certain 'L shape'. Now if this room is rectangular in shape, you have occupied only half of it, or a bit more. For the remaining half, you can either put in a dining or a writing-table, or even better, a pool table.

If you are an avid enthusiast of a hobby, then the remaining half part of the living room can become your den. Like some souvenir collected during your travels, a memento you cherish, or even a collection.

Immediately, next to the show case, you can keep a huge book rack that contains books, articles, research files and folders from your expeditions, countless travelogues and an excellent collection of magazines worth a small fortune.

Living Room with a Fireplace

Laying out a living room with a fireplace is a tough and confusing owing to the fact that your siting pieces or elements which are included in the furniture tend to two points of orientations; the television set and the fireplace.

In a living room design with fireplace, the best idea is to mount the television on to the wall which is adjacent to the fireplace. Your sofa sets and the chairs of living can then be arranged in an L-shape opposite to the television. Make sure that one of the arm of the 'L' shaped arrangement, points to the fireplace and the other one to the TV.

Behind the seating arrangement you can also have a living room table which you can use as a game table, dining table and also as a general writing-table. Make it a point to orient (point) chairs around the table in the direction of the television so that you can easily view the television.

Now this kind of arrangement is best used where you hang or mount your TV set on the wall. Alternatively, a large entertainment unit placed on a ground-based support such as a showcase also works equally good.

Living Room with a very Large Seating Arrangement

Sometimes, the seating arrangements tend to consist of several elements such as more than one sofa set, 4-5 chairs or so. It often makes the furniture unmanageable, especially while doing a layout.

Here you can use a good centerpiece, such as a small glass top table or a very short and small island in the middle and set the seating pieces in such a manner that they surround the centerpiece in a 'U'. In such a case you, can mount up your television on the wall, which is nearest to the seating arrangement.

If you want to orient the seating arrangement in another way that too, in accordance with the TV, then you also have the option of arranging it in a 'C shape'.

On the whole, the living room layout, chiefly depends on where you want to mount you TV or keep the entertainment unit which holds the TV. Your seating arrangement should face the TV and the rest of the furniture is to be adjusted in the remaining space.

Now this may be the normal or conventional arrangement, however, some people go the unconventional way, such as building a small loft within the room and placing the TV and some loungers or comfy bean bags on it.

Sometimes where the kitchen, dining room and living room are integrated into one single room, the TV and the reaming seating furniture can be arranged in such a manner, that the kitchen platform and TV are at the opposite ends of the room.
