A bachelor's apartment is often considered a synonym for a house which is disorganized, full of clutter and sans any aesthetic appeal! After all, the last thing on a guy's mind is to think about whether the color of the curtains in his house, match with the paint color on the walls!
This thinking however can completely change, if the bachelor in question is expecting some friends over, one of them being a girl that he has a crush on! So, for all those youngsters out there, who want to give their house a new, furbished look, here are some creative decorating ideas...

De-clutter and Repaint...

Before you begin decorating your apartment, the first thing that you need to do is to get rid of the things that you do not need. Old clothes, shoes, books, any furniture item which is past its prime, do away with all the things that you no longer use!
Next, the simplest way to give a new look to your apartment is to paint it in some interesting colors. Since it's a bachelor's pad, paint it in colors such as blue, beige, tan, dark brown, maroon and dark green.
Usually, bachelor pads are small in size, so to give an illusion of a larger space, paint the walls in a lighter shade and the ceiling in the same color, but two shades lighter than the one used on the walls. You can keep the darker paint colors such as green and maroon to make some art designs on the wall.

Furniture and Storage...

The furniture should be low maintenance. So, opt for dark-colored leather sofas and place a wooden coffee table in the center. Keep only modern, sleek furniture, with clear-cut lines, as it occupies lesser space.
In case you have only one room, which is the case with many bachelor's pads, get a Murphy bed, which can go in the wall during the daytime! To deal with space constraints, add a closet to your room.
A closet will help you to keep your clothes and shoes organized. You can even use wooden step ladders of different sizes, to create shelves and keep books and other stuff on them!

Accessories and Window Treatments...

To liven up your apartment, use some accessories. If you have a good budget, keep a pair of sleek, stainless steel lamps in your living room and hang a steel chandelier from the roof!
If you do not want to spend much, make a collage with framed photographs of your family and friends and put it up on the walls. These days, you get peel and stick window treatments, which have beautiful art designs on them. So, if you are too lazy to hang curtains, plus you want to make your pad look arty and beautiful, opt for these!

Lighting and Dividing...

Keep the lighting in the room very basic and light. This will give your apartment a warm, cozy, spacious look. If you want to highlight particular areas in your room or an artwork on the wall, make use of spot lights. As far as possible, choose simple lighting fixtures instead of decorative ones.
For those of you who are living in a studio apartment, one of the creative decorating ideas is to make divisions in the room and create separate zones for sleeping, watching TV, studying, etc.
This will help you in living a more organized life, plus dividers can enhance the aesthetic appeal of your interiors. Climbing plants, venetian blinds, a closet or a regular partition with some unique designs on it - all these can be used to divide and make way for specific areas in your house!
With these ideas, you can easily give your pad a whole new look. Remember to keep things modern, comfortable yet artistic. And since it's your house, decorate it in such a way that your personality shines through it! Most importantly, love your house!
