Dark wood floors are great to have in your home. This article lists the other aspects to consider while installing these floors.
Wooden floors give a warm yet elegant feeling to the house. They look very rich when they are polished. One way of accentuating the entire room is installing dark wooden flooring and using light colors for the walls, furniture, and linens. To maintain uniformity throughout the house, you can install this flooring in all your rooms, except the bathrooms.
Dark floors can either be made from wood, which is naturally dark in color, or you can use hardwood and polish it with a dark varnish. Another great thing about these floors is that there is a type of neutrality which is maintained, and you get the liberty to use various colors for interior decoration.
These floors can also be used in apartments, and not just in big houses.
There are many unique and classic designs to choose from to make your home look brilliant. The easiest way to change the look of your home without painting the walls, buying new furniture, or getting new drapes is to change the flooring to a darker color.
This is all you need to give your interiors a bold and beautiful look. There are many colors and materials you can choose from―walnut alder, dark oak, old oak, etc.―that are commonly used in hardwood flooring. These types of floors give you the freedom to explore and select any color you want to redo your home with.

Walls

The first aspect of home decor is to choose the right paint or wall colors, as you would only repaint them once every few years. Therefore, it is sensible to choose lighter colors, since the rest of your interiors will be dependent on this.
The best wall colors which would suit dark floors are cream, beige, ivory, lemon, yellow, peach, baby pink, light blue, lilac, metallic red, and gray. These colors are very neutral light shades, making it easier for you design the furniture accordingly. However, dark floors and light wall colors are the best combination for the long term.
Also, if you have wall moldings, white trim and light walls will surely be a great idea.

Furniture and Cabinets

If you are going to have these floors in your living room, bedrooms, and kitchen, you need to choose your cabinet and furniture color carefully. Many people prefer having light furniture, dark wooden flooring, and bright interiors.
Since your floor is already wooden, you can use minimal furniture around. Shelves, drawers, showcases, bookcases, room dividers, tables and chairs, kitchen cabinets, etc., can be made in very elegant and simple patterns using very little wood. For the kitchen, light cabinets look perfect with this kind of flooring. Don't pair dark floors with dark furniture. Pick your colors very carefully and make the interiors look pleasant and homey.

Drapes and Curtains

Your drapes, curtains, sheers, and other fabrics used for interior designing have to be bright if you are getting these floors installed. Green, orange, yellow, bright red, peach, sky blue, purple, rich mustard, maroon, beige, golden, silver, copper, and other such beautiful colors make the house look brilliantly designed.
You can have shades of these colors on your sofa, pillows, bed sheets, and other linens as well. Bright curtains and drapes give the room a pleasant look lighting up the wall colors and of course making the dark floor more noticeable.
