During summer, due to high temperature, the roofs tend to get distorted. This may even create cracks and holes on their surface. During rainy season, water cannot be drained out of a flat roof properly.

The accumulated water at the sides can damage not only the roof but also the walls, doors, and windows of the building. The effect of the roof coating depends on how well it adheres to the surface. To achieve the best results, you need to prepare the surface properly. All the dirt, grease, and loose debris should be cleaned by either sweeping or vacuuming.

To get rid of heavier pollutants and old coatings, wash them off by water blasting. Drain out the excess water; otherwise, the coat will fail to stick to the surface. Inspect the entire roof carefully to find any cracks and holes. If there are any, repair them before applying the coat.

When the repair work has cured completely, then start applying the coat with the help of a soft-bristled broom. Follow the recommendations of the manufacturers for application. Always keep the finish of every stroke of the brush in the same direction.

As the orientation of the aluminum coating is the same, the reflection of the light would be uniform. In case you want to apply the coat by spraying, choose an airless sprayer. Make sure it is sprayed evenly all over the surface. Once it is applied, keep it untouched until it is fully cured.

The bonding between the aluminum pigment and the asphalt base is strong which enables it to resist heat and moisture. It also increases the life of the roofing and saves the cost of its maintenance. Aluminum has high reflective properties. It is capable of reflecting out almost seventy percent of the sunlight.

As a result, the asphalt oils that form the base of the coating stay well-protected. Thus, the elastic properties of the coating remain intact and prevent cracking or drying out. As the heat and light of the sun are reflected out, the indoor temperature of the building decreases to a great extent.

You should take into consideration the weather conditions in which you are applying the coat. Aluminum coating works well in high temperatures, but if it is too high, spots may appear on it.

An extremely low temperature can prevent the foil formation of the coat. The dews at low temperature can make blotches on the coated surface. Furthermore, problems may arise if there is rainfall before the coating dries up completely.
