Alternatives to Traditional Plain White Ceilings

Plain white ceilings have always been the most classy choice. However, with a new age, we have been started experimenting with multiple colors and textures. When choosing, the decision should be based on the room size, color and texture of the walls and floor.
'The Creation of Adam', which adorns the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican City, is one of the greatest masterpieces created by Michelangelo.
If you don't want to stick to convention, but at the same time don't want to be too flashy, adding a bright color to your ceiling is a good option (make sure you leave the rest of the room as neutral as possible).
Panels provide an option to break the monotony of the standard square or rectangular shapes we see around a room. Available in various shapes as well as textures and materials, this can be a refreshing change.
If you would like, not only a color on the ceiling, but also a design or pattern, the simplest option is to use wallpaper. This is not as labor- or time-intensive as painting.
Wood provides a nice warm color and texture to any room. In fact, a wooden ceiling would perfectly complement a wooden floor.
If you can't find a satisfying design on ready-made wallpaper, you can always hand paint a design on the ceiling. This is even better, because it leaves the choice of color up to you.
Not a fan of bright colors? Then try a subtle one. It actually gives the room a lot of character.
Very similar to ceiling panels, statement tiles are made from different materials and colors.
Even though lighting is standard in all rooms, it can also be used to draw the eye and enhance the look of your ceiling. Lighting coupled with a design element can enhance the look of the ceiling.
Decorative molding on a plain white ceiling can bring out the charm and character you have always wanted the room to have.
Painting highlights around design aspects or fittings can change the look of the ceiling completely.
